[After his excursion to the VR cafe with Noct or 'Noxy' was he was now being referred to, Tony had a new project he wanted to tackle and he knew just who to ask for assistance.]
Pyra, any chance you'd be willing to teach your favorite superhero the coding used in this world? It's very different than he's used to.
[ On her end, she's delighted to see this message in her inbox, and quickly turns her communicator before responding. ] You'll have alien coding down in at most a month, guaranteed! :)
Easiest to learn by doing, though. Are you thinking of coding something in particular?
Is a month how long it normally takes people? You'll want to estimate a quarter of the time for me.
[Not just a brag either!]
Yes, actually. I have an idea for a gift 'trip' for our boys. They clearly need to reconnect and are being dumbasses about it. I noticed there were two games on the VR cafe list that were camping themed but the activity in each game was to hike or to fish. I think they should be able to do these things, but I want to combine those games with also the element of 'at a campsite, with a campfire, under the stars, etc'. What do you think?
[ As she reads the text on her screen, her lips purse in thought, and not at that he can apparently learn an entire code in one week, or even the proposition for building a new VR simulator for them...
...But for the fact that he wants to do this for them, and he knows they all enjoy camping. "Our boy.".
While she knows that he and Gladio live together (and Gladio had told her that he had been close with the Ignis of the train-world), he must know more about them and be closer with them, than she had initially thought. ]
I'll be glad to help.
But I didn't realize until now... You know them well, don't you?
[There's a noticeable delay in his next response, but he does answer.]
Very well. They don't know me here, which is alright and I don't need them to know I'm doing this. It will be better if they don't. I know Noctis doesn't care for me, so keep this on a need to know basis. This has nothing to do with me, I just know it's something they need.
[ Prompto hasn’t been in his world for three years. Gladio hasn’t been there for months. Ignis, same, and Noctis, a whole year. What Tony wants to do for them is touching— and he wants to do this for them because he cares, even if three of them have to get to know him all over again.
He’s right, this is something that they might really need right now, a chance to reconnect— just the four of them. ]
You know, you’re very thoughtful, Tony. You have a big heart beneath all of that armor. :)
This secret is ours.
[ And Noctis is nothing if not patient with others. He’ll come around, eventually. ]
Oh! Noct recently drew a mural at our place, I think it shows a fairly accurate picture of Eos’ night sky. Noct’s old phone, I think, also has photos of them at their campsites. If we’re building a camping simulator, how accurate to their campground do you think would be appropriate?
[ Would it make them too homesick, or would it be good for them? She’s not sure, hence her conferring. ]
[He laughed heartily at that response. He'll make a mental note on that one- great sense of humor. Also that Noct paints! What a good hobby for the young man. He'd always just witnessed the Goldendoodle running around doing artistic things, but this was good.
His grin widened further at her question back to him.]
[ She can't help a small chuckle before she replies. ]
Emo fetish?? I am *insulted*! [ Admittedly, it's difficult to convey a joking tone through text, but she tries with a: ] lol
[ Personally speaking, she adores his aesthetic. ]
You're right, though. Red, black, gold, and white. Add teal-blue to the list too. [ Blue, because, of course, Noctis' eyes are that color. It's almost like she can't decide which color to settle on as a particular favorite. ]
I appreciate this wise, fatherly advice. [ —Not that she doesn’t compliment Noctis’ eyes on the daily, but something else about his message catches her attention.
...
”It’s a dad thing.”
...She hadn’t known he was a father. Which means that somewhere, perhaps, on his homeworld, is a child he’s sorely missing.
Her text comes delayed, as if she had to think for quite a bit before sending it. On his screen it’ll show that she’s typing, perhaps deleting and rewording, then typing again before she sends at last: ]
[It was moments like this that hurt the most. It wasn't anything Pyra had done wrong, but usually when he knew that topic was coming, he could brace for it or deflect it with all of his humor and sarcasm. Perhaps it was even why he'd been more of an ass lately than normal to some people.
Either way, this hits him like a brick to the sternum. It didn't matter which world he thought of either, he had painful losses in both places. He had to take a second to steady his breathing or risk a tear.]
Beyond words and then some.
[It takes him a few minutes to recover from that.]
[ At her workbench, she sets down the small engine she had been idly working upon, her eyes flitting to the communicator as it flashes with the arrival of a new message. She reads it over once, twice, and then sets the device down before picking it up again.
She's sorry that he's not there with his child. ]
Trust, love acceptance. I learned from Prompto that that makes a family, right?
[ It's not a deflection. She's only gathering her thoughts, seeing what he says in response first. ]
[That was good. The break was good. That totally gave him a chance to get that um.. eyelash- yeah, that's it- out of his eye.]
It sure can and if that's what you have, it should be treasured. Family isn't defined by blood, I agree with that. However, even with the families we have to build between friends or even those we're born into we don't always get a 'father', who should have those traits and more. It's sad how few actually have one and that I've left my daughters without theirs is what makes it so painful.
Do you have the kind of family Prompto has described?
[ If only there was a way for him to know that his daughters are safe-- the both of them. But if the deities here can send items or trinkets from one's homeworld...

Can the fact I can be nice also be part of the secret?
[He was surprised by the next thing he read.]
Noct is an artist? I think we should be as accurate as possible.
[Pause]
What's your favorite color?

[ —So she jokes, but honestly, his niceness won’t be a secret as soon as the four know he’s made this surprise VR for them. ]
He’s taken up painting as a hobby in this realm! And he’s very talented.

I'm going to guess... red and black? Red because of your hair and black because of your emo fetish with Noxy.

But I like your list.
