[He sees no flaws here, honestly. It's just the sort of thing he's into.]

If the monster's really huge, we might need to find you a bigger sword.

...We never told you, did we? We actually-- have a sword. A big one.

[Wow, she admitted it.]

I'd kinda guessed you had more experience than Pyra let on, but she was trying so hard to keep it on the down-low I didn't want to say anything. Why hide that too?

[ Cat's out of the bag!

Quietly, ]

...Guess we're just cowards.

[He winces.]

I didn't say that.

[ She shakes her head, smiling derisively. ] I know... But it's the truth.

[ It's followed with a shrug, as if she has no issue admitting this. Excuses like it's not necessary or needed, other excuses that the sword bears an exact replica of her crystal upon it, which means more risk for others touching if it's around... it doesn't matter. The root is fear. ]

Fear is.. a very intimate emotion for us. It's the first we learned when we awakened.

[ Anyway. ]

Kinda hard to shake it off, mm?

...Yeah.

[He's quiet for a long moment at that. He can understand it- some of his earliest memories are steeped in terror that had taken years to overcome. He hopes that whatever frightened them wasn't as bad as what comes to his mind when he thinks of his own fears, but if it's still holding her back, it can't be easy to overcome. Doesn't bode well for what she might have gone through.]

I'm sorry... that whatever happened to you made you feel like that. I hope you can use it again one day.

[ He hopes she'll use it again. She already knows she will-- by bestowing it onto a woefully incompetent teenager youth to use it for most of the time. It's a nice trade-off.

Still, his condolences are not met without a smile on her part. He's sweet, really. ]

Hey. There's plenty of capable warriors in Havenwell already. [ Some with very incredible powers. ] This place could be one of the most protected places in all of the universes.

That's easy to say, until that protection breaks down and every person counts.

[Noctis idly kicks at nothing on the ground, hands slipping into his pockets.]

Take it from someone who grew up in a city like this- walls are strong, but people are stronger. I know who I'd rather rely on.

[And walls have their prices, too. Back in Insomnia, it wasn't the concrete walls surrounding the city that kept them safe, or the magic barrier. It was his dad who protected them all. They don't know enough about what's really paying the price for their protection in Havenwell.]

[ He'd rather rely on her. And her possibly calling out her sword... Pyra's sword, anyway.

Pyra should be buried too, is what she refrains from saying. She's already indulging in being among others, and she's been indulging in company and holding hands for months. Mythra remaining sealed is the least she can do. ]

If I step out there, [ And risking harming the world versus potentially rescuing a few people-- ] I imagine things are going to hell.

Let's hope that doesn't happen.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to.

[He may not like the idea of her being stuck in here, kept secret and mostly alone - even with how little he knows about her, he wouldn't want that for anyone - but she herself said that it was her choice. Or at least... self-imposed. He's not positive on the difference between the two. If she feels like she's safer in here, and the world is safer for it, he's got little room to push for it. Even so.]

Just... if you ever decide to go for it, count on me to stand between you and the rest of the world if you need it.

[ Damn, if he doesn't sound like some sort of knight like that. Someone protecting her. Someone offering to protect her. What a thought-- a thought that makes her smile. And who knows. Maybe her fears are unfounded in this realm, but the feeling exists, and she's yet to overcome it.

She supposes she herself cannot promise the same in return. That's how imbalanced their relationship is. What he gives, she cannot give in return because of that fear. ]

You... really give too much, you realize.

[His lips quirk upwards at the corner.]

It's not that tall an order. I could give a little more.

[ And so can she, she thinks to herself. Clearly, she's not giving back enough. Not to him.

She would be better able to protect him, if Pyra would manifest her sword. But is it wise, is the doubt.

.... ] I suppose. Maybe I can allow it.... her bringing out her sword.

[He blinks, not expecting the concession. She'd seemed so firm on it. Maybe... she just needs some encouragement. Some... ah.

Some help on remembering how to be brave.]

If you think it's okay, I wouldn't mind seeing it one day.

[ It's the biggest concession to a maybe. She can try to meet him halfway. Does the effort even count in the long-run, she wonders...

She nods. ]

....And even if not, I've got a katana to use as well. Somnus left it behind, apparently it was something he got while in world before this one.

[ If he'd ever want to spar with Pyra, that would be the one she'd use. Her own sword's edge is made of her power... And while she doesn't know if Noctis' swords have magic to protect from the energy, she'd rather not melt his blades clean through. ]

Oh... yeah. He mentioned he'd been somewhere else before this.

[He hadn't known about the sword, but he does remember that the secret of his knowing Pyra had accidentally come out during some incident or another.]

At least I'm used to fighting alongside a katana user now. I've done enough training with Cor after this long...

[ Now that is serendipitous. ]

That makes it seem like you could teach us a thing or two about katanas.

Gods, not really. I've only used one a handful of times, it's not my speciality at all. Talk to Cor if you want advice for that.

[He grins, almost sheepish.]

I probably know a thing or two about almost all weapons, but only that much. What's the phrase, jack of all trades, master of none? Or master of just one, I guess.

[He's pretty boss with longswords, at least. The rest is really dependant on how much time he could afford to practice.]

Huh, really? [ Not that she’s doubting him, but she’s only seen him favor one type of sword. ]

What else do you know how to wield?

Uh... gods, that's a long list. Regular swords, obviously. Gladio specializes in greatswords and shields, so we trained a lot using both, and Ignis helped me with dual daggers and polearms.

[That's five down, oops. Starting a new hand-]

I did some training with handguns, though my aim's nowhere near as good as Prompto's. We stole some machinery weapons from the Nifs, and he showed me how to use those, but they're a little slow for my taste. [...Do elemancy flasks count? Nah, they don't count. Skipping those.] Each of the Royal Arms are unique in their own way, and there's some overlap since a lot of them are just swords, but the Rogue had a shuriken, the Fierce had a mace, the Pious had a scepter that I honestly never got the hang of. The Clever had a crossbow-

[-Ah. He's out of fingers again.]

Plus the ring. [Sheepishly:] ...Like I said, it's a long list.

[ She begins listening, attentive and patient. Swords and shields, daggers, and polearms, handguns, stolen weapons... he's resourceful, and it seems he doesn't have any prejudice against more modern weapons, too, and those that are not reliant on magic. That's good. ]

A shuriken, a mace, a scepter...

Curious still, but uncertain, she continues to listen. ]
