[ She dips her head but raises her brow, the expression dubious. As if she'll be asking permission. ] Dunno.
But... [ She turns her gaze from him, looking down the temple hallway they're walking. ] --There's windows over there. We can use those when they turn the corner.
[A window... he squints in that direction. They're not that high up, right? Just a floor or so. He can totally phase on impact if a roll won't be enough. Definitely. Maybe.]
Works for me. I can distract 'em if you can get it open for us.
[ "--is our esteemed deity of apathy, logic, and negative emotions." The robot acolyte, draped in a silver stole, raises a hand to gesture towards one depictions of a dragon-like figure.
Mythra takes a step away from Noctis, keeping her voice low. ] Two..
[ The robot turns three-quarters away from them motioning down the hallway to continue their tour. "Our patrons pray to him when they are upset, and--"
Mythra doesn't ask how this new companion of hers is going to distract this temple employee, only that she expects him to. ] Three.
[ Once Noctis sets the plan in motion, Mythra will be dashing towards the window, throwing the pane open. A gust of wind greets her, tossing her hair out behind her.
[As she signals them to move, he picks up the pace to wave down the priest, feigning interest.]
Hey. I don't know much about praying, can you walk me through one? Do a demo? This is, uh, super cool, and I don't want to do it wrong.
[The robot is immediately delighted, folding their hands together and proceeding to work through a series of bows, gestures, and generic murmurings about Rawna and their radiance and blah blah blah. Noctis waits until they're fully facing the statue and focused on the process before quietly edging away towards Mythra, peering out the window.]
Okay, we've got- whoa, hang on. I dunno if I can do that jump.
[ Nice distraction, couldn't have done it better herself... because if it's one thing she can't feign, it's interest in how mortals worship their gods. The Praetorium makes her cringe just thinking about it. ]
Don't worry, [ She dismisses with a confident half-smile, reaching for his wrist to tug him up onto the ledge. Beyond the temple grounds lies the city at large; below them, at least a eight-story drop greets them. ] We got this.
[Oh god, this strange woman just pulled him out a window. He goes from hearing the priest's startled shout to nothing but the wind rushing past his ears, eyes wide and limbs spread in a free-fall. This is how he dies, isn't it? He's just met a crazy wild woman and he's going to die jumping out of an alien church. And if he doesn't die, Ignis is going to track him all the way to this world just to kill him himself.
He glances expectantly over at her, eyes wide, waiting as she shouts, pauses, and curses. So... she does not, in fact, have this? Which means they don't, which means-]
Shit-- [he echoes, mind racing, and in a panic he grabs her arm, twisting them around in the air and shove-flinging her towards the wall of the temple.] Grab something!
[He can't really do much for her aside from that, so he's hoping that her reflexes are quick. He reaches inside the armory for his sword, and while what arrives in his hand feels a little different, the ground is rising up quickly enough that he really doesn't care. Flinging it towards a stone outcropping further below, he focuses as hard as he can and prays - hey, Rawna? Bahamut? Dragon god of choice, make it happen, okay? - and then wa-]
[ She doesn't know what's happening until it's already happened. One moment she's falling with a mind ready to kick into hyper-drive to devise a split-second solution, and the next she's being flung towards one of the temple walls. She sees a flash of blue-- feels it, even, like a prickle, no, a shock of lightening ripping through the air-- and he's suddenly right beside her, a blade lodged into a wall.
Okay, he's not just beside her anymore because she's still falling, but with her ~amazing~ thinking, she scrambles to grab onto him. Around the waist. ]
I--.... What the hell?
[ First, what did he do to get here.
Second, how come she can't reach Ophion?!
Third: ] What are you doing just hanging there? Swing that way, there's a ledge!
Hrk- [He grunts as she suddenly latches onto him, scrabbling to tighten his grip on his sword when the sudden added weight threatens to yank them both off. Her long hair whips across his face on the way down, and he glares at her as she shouts, thoroughly unamused. Not even so much as a thank you? Seriously...]
Don't get pissed at me, this is your fault!
[It's true that they can't hang here forever, though - his stamina's bad to begin with - so he reaches up with his other hand for better leverage to begin swinging them back and forth towards the ledge as she'd advised.]
[ She'll be fine if she falls from here, but does she want to? No. Mythra holds onto him as he swings, and when they're just close enough, she releases one hand off his waist to reach out to the ledge to hold them in place. ]
Sh--...shut up! It worked, didn't it? We're out of that damn tour!
[ You can thank her any time.
Gritting her teeth, she pulls herself onto the ledge, turning around to press her back to the tower. Regaining her breath, she extends a hand to him. Despite the scowl that carried in her tone earlier, there's a hint of a stubborn pout upon her lips, a subdued tone, as if she's.... she's trying. ] C'mon, I'll carry you down.
[He's a big fan of boring if it's an alternative to actually dying. Still, seeing her catch the ledge and stabilize herself is reassuring enough that he feels a bit better about the whole thing, so he lets the hilt go with one hand and reaches for hers. Just need to stretch a few-
-whoops, there goes his grip entirely. With a yelp, his hand bats against hers without purchase and he starts to plummet again.]
[ Her gloved fingertips just barely brush against his as he reaches for hers, with Mythra straining her arm towards him in return, and her lips part as she watches him tip backwards as if in slow motion-- ]
...Oh, come on.
[ Already she's placed her back foot behind her as if positioned to propel her into a leap. ]
[ She jumps after him, a flash of gold alighting the single step she takes to cross the air to him. He'll feel something heavy impact against him from the front as it isn't so much as a catch but a tackle against his body, strong arms holding him in a cradle, and with another flash they're tumbling unceremoniously onto the temple lawn, kicking up dirt and flowers in their wake. ]
[His breath is forced out of him in a gasp as she grabs him in the air, and for a moment he clenches his eyes shut, because now they're both falling again, and he definitely doesn't have it in him to pull off another warp. Too bad, it was a nice life, kind of! When the next impact isn't a bone-crushing fall right into the jaws of death, however, he carefully cracks his eyes open to discover that they're sprawled over the lawn now, clearly not dead, and while they've officially made a mess of both the lawn and themselves...
He blinks, then coughs out an awkward laugh, limbs splayed and chest heaving a little as he catches his breath.]
[ Lying there on the ground, she looks up at the sky and the glimmer of barrier overhead, wondering just how she got into this mess.
(She did. She got them into this mess.)
And with a frustrated sigh she sits up, beginning to pick out the twigs and blades of grass from her hair. ] That's--
[ .... ]Er, cool?
[ ..............No one has ever called her abilities cool!! Since her awakening, it's been nothing but criticizing her power, how she uses too much, how it's dangerous, how she should always limit it.
There's a petal still hanging right atop of her bangs as she double takes. ]
[He flexes his limbs to test for any damage he hadn't noticed (all functional! it's a miracle) and pushes himself upright, shrugging off his jacket to check it for grass stains. It's still too big for him anyway, and besides the skull motif he doesn't recognize it, so may as well retire it for cleaning for a bit.
He glances over at her, then snorts and reaches out to flick the petal away.]
Don't know what you did, but you got us to the bottom intact, just like you said.
[ She blinks twice as he flicks the petal from her bangs, raising a hand up to her forehead. A moment passes before she lowers it, and Mythra quickly brushes a strand of hair over her shoulder.
Her mouth closes once, and then she says: ]
...Uh. Thanks....?
[ She clears her throat, looking down briefly, then back up. Now that she thinks about it, he did something, too. ]
[Right, introductions. That's a normal thing that normal people do. Gods, it's been so long since he wasn't recognized by everyone around him. It's bizarre, but refreshing. The fact that she spoke with him so openly in the temple sticks out now, too.]
[ She stands, dusting off the last of the dirt and grass stains from her skirt. ] So...
[ She rolls back her shoulders, looking away, and out, towards the city. Normally, this is where she would head off on her own, but she stops herself from turning away from him completely just yet. ]
I'm... heading to the barrier. [ Because they specifically said to stay away from it. ] You, uh. Want to come along?
[Oh, the wall. He glances over in its direction, feeling those same Insomnia vibes he'd felt when he first arrived and heard about it, noticed the subtle rainbow sheen and the magic in the air. He hadn't gotten too close yet, not wanting to rock the boat, but he won't say he's not intrigued.]
Sure, I'll come. Though if you still can't do that "Ophion" thing or whatever, you might want to stay on solid ground this time.
[Noctis rolls his eyes, though he does glance over his shoulder to check for sure that- okay, good, it went back into the armory like it's supposed to.]
